JUSTIN SHAULIS: An Interview About Being the Design Ambassador for Howard Elliott
We recently conducted an interview with Justin Shaulis about what drew him to The Howard Elliott Collection and why he enjoys being their Brand Ambassador.
Q: How did you discover Howard Elliott?
J: I met Howard Elliott for the first time when I participated in the Design Campus Tour at Las Vegas Market several years ago. Howard Elliott was one of the stops on my tour.
Prior to the tour, I did my research and got to know the companies I was going to be speaking about. I met Vice President, Colleen Daly, and President, Brian Berk and let’s just say - I was impressed. Not only did I find them to be astute business people but they were also cool. I enjoyed getting to know them.
The feeling must have been mutual because after the tour Brian requested a meeting to learn more about how I presented the company. The conversation began as an honest Q&A between us- I wanted to know more about them and why I didn’t know of them before! They wanted to know more about me and why I explained the Howard Elliott brand the way I did.
We decided working together would be a good fit for both of us. Soon after, I became the Brand Ambassador for a company I liked and enjoyed working with!
Q: What’s your favorite thing when it comes to Howard Elliott products?
J: Howard Elliott delivers great looks across a broad range of home accent products – even more important to me – they are focused on delivering a quality product. From their huge selection of mirrors – to the new hand-painted canvas art – to the accent furniture, the commitment to using the best components and finishes is evident across the board. A year ago, we began offering my Curated Collections. It’s my way of highlighting the new products I find most interesting. The hard part of that assignment is narrowing down my selection!
Q: Being a designer yourself, why do you think Howard Elliott such a great partner for designers?
J: Howard Elliott’s mission statement: Committed Partnerships – Customized Programs - boils down to being a partner by elevating their customers and working with them so that they shine. I haven’t come across many manufacturers whose focus is more on the designer being successful and less about making sure the company’s name is the focus.
I have so many conversations with designers lamenting over the power of “google image search” undercutting their prices with clients and customers. I tell them about working with Howard Elliott to find and customize unique products for their projects that will more aptly represent their aesthetic and enjoy a price point that will work for them.
As a designer, I continue to purchase from Howard Elliott for my own projects and I am thrilled to be able to talk about the experiences I have and can be absolutely honest about the excellent service they provide.
