TAKING A STEP BACK, TO LOOK FORWARD - by Justin Shaulis
It might seem funny that we are going to talk about the Spring High Point Market in preparation for the upcoming Summer Vegas Market, but it isn't at all.
Overall, High Point Market never fails with great energy and excitement. Everyone is thawing out with warmer temps, the colors that come with new growth are emerging and the newest introductions from the furniture and gift vendors are making their debut. I walked into this market with a new purpose: to re-position Howard Elliott in the interior design community as their Brand Ambassador.
One of the major tasks I put to myself to make them more appealing to the design community, was how to take their collection of 3,000+ SKUs and hone it into a smaller scale to make the collection a little less over whelming. With this task, I met with the Howard Elliott team and together we studied and choose my favorites of the new offerings for Spring 2018. From our meetings we created the Justin Shaulis Spring Curated Collection 2018. No larger than a Broadway Playbill, the catalog beautifully shows pieces that not only caught my eye, but also give a taste of the breadth of abilities and the quality and execution of the entire Howard Elliott product offering.
It was very well received by the design community. I have since heard from many of my design friends that: They had NO IDEA all of the things that Howard Elliott has to offer; or the Justin Shaulis Curated Collection has been an inspiration to them for their projects and has been a great starting point to introduce them to the Howard Elliott line.
The creation of this Curated Collection and my new role with Howard Elliott was also met with great excitement with the media. I had video interviews with both Susan Dickenson of Home Accents Today along with Brian Berk, president of Howard Elliott and Jane Dagmi of Designers Today.
To further celebrate our new partnership, we hosted an event with Steelyard in the Howard Elliott showroom "Jumpstart your Sunday" where we met with Steelyard members and designers whom I very much admire. That was followed by our bi-annual Cocktail party where everyone enjoyed great food, great design and great conversation.
All in all, it was a fabulous way to start this new venture with Howard Elliott. Riding this high, we already started looking toward Vegas, which was only a few short months away. Taking what we learned from High Point, we are experimenting with a few new ideas for Vegas.
Jody Ossman, Howard Elliott's Director of Design has completely re-designed the Las Vegas showroom and is incorporating two vignettes dedicated to the Justin Shaulis Curated Collection! Now market goers can step into and personally experience the beauty and style that captured my attention of the pieces I selected.
In addition to the Curated Collection, there will be brand new, never before seen styles making their market debut intermingled throughout the showroom.
I tell all of my design friends, as I tell you now, "Come and see how this entire showroom can be your toolbox to design and create what you want to sell to your clients!" Come and see us! I will be there and you should be too! I would love to meet you and show you the exceptional product that is the Howard Elliott Collection. WMC #A-332
You can look forward to a new Justin Shaulis Curated Collection every year!
