HOWARD ELLIOTT GIVES BACK

HOWARD ELLIOTT GIVES BACK

Being a leader in the industry isn’t just about being business savvy; it’s about giving back. As a company, Howard Elliott is committed to help those in need whether they are affected by devastating natural disasters, financial hardships or illness. Through the years, we have enjoyed giving back to the community through both charitable donations and setting aside time in our busy schedules to participate in outreach programs.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being part of the ARTs program is to not only network with so many industry professionals, but every year at the ART + IDS Conference, we get the opportunity to take part in an outreach program to help the local community. We are able to donate our product to help those in need, but also give our time.

Our goal is to make beautiful home decor to add that perfect finishing touch to transform a house into a home. Some things we create never make it out into the retail world. Or come back to our warehouse and we cannot sell it. Instead of disposing of this product, we donate them to non-profit resale stores.

Every year we donate our showroom samples to the American Cancer Society Smith Mountain Lake Discovery Shop in Virginia. All proceeds from the items they sell are used by the ACS for research and patient programs. Cancer has hit home for many Howard Elliott employees, including president, Brian Berk; so giving to ACS is something we do without question!

Habitat for Humanity

Product that is returned to our warehouse and we cannot resell it is donated to our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. All proceeds for the ReStore go directly to fulfill the DuPage Habitat for Humanity mission to help build affordable housing for families in need.

For the last few years we have partnered with Walker Furniture in Las Vegas to provide product for their yearly reading contest. The local school that reads the most books win a new reading corner furnished by Walker Furniture! Naturally we were happy to participate by donating our Pouf Ottomans for fun seating options.

Another way we have given back is through Show Houses. We have been honored to have been chosen to be a part of 3 Show houses.

MODERNISM WEEK AT THE CHRISTOPHER KENNEDY COMPOUND
We were honored this last week to have 2 of our mirrors chosen to be part of designer extraordinaire, Justin Shaulis’s work of interior art in The Christopher Kennedy Compound for Modernism Week. Every piece of this guest room was carefully selected to harmonize together down to the most simple detail.

“The mission of Modernism Week is to celebrate and foster appreciation of midcentury architecture and design, as well as contemporary thinking in these fields, by encouraging education, preservation and sustainable modern living as represented in Palm Springs.” -Modernism Week Website. It is a not for profit organization working to help inspire students pursuing architecture & design, plus supporting local & state groups working to preserve modernist architecture throughout the state of California.

DESIGN ON A DIME
The 12th Annual Design on a Dime Event benefit and sale by Housing Works featured more than 60 of the world's top interior designers, who created unforgetable room vignettes with merchandise donated and sold to raise money for the charity. The event brought in over $1.2 million to build housing for the homeless people with Aids/HIV in New York City. Designer, Justin Shaulis once again created a stunning work of art like only he can. Using our Grace Mirror and Pyramid Mirrored Cabinet, he was able to tie the vignette together with product from other notable donors.

DWELL WITH DIGNITY
In conjunction with Steelyard Access and Parker Kennedy Living, we participated in the Dwell with Dignity charity event. The Thrift Studio Event hosted talented interior designers from all over that created vignettes to later be shopped. All proceeds from the event funded Dwell with Dignity; a nonprofit agency dedicated to creating soothing and inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty in both Dallas and Atlanta.

This leads up to our next venture.....The Detroit Junior League of Designers' ASPIRE Show House! We are teaming up with a number of designers for this one! As stated on the ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME website, “Funds raised from the Show House will support the Junior League of Detroit’s community including grants, college scholarships and recent initiatives: Project EAT, which connects Education, Access and Tools to promote healthy eating, as well as partnerships with Cass Community Social Services, Forgotten Harvest and Empowerment Plan.” Read more about this venture here: READ MORE >
